About Me
Hi! My name is Paityn, and I am a registered psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists (#7072). I hold a Master's of Science in Applied Psychology, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.
For much of my career, I have worked in rural, community-based mental health settings, providing services to people in the community I have worked in as a generalist. Having the opportunity to work with a number of populations in this setting, I take pride in tailoring my services to support children, teens and adults– whether individually or as families– with overcoming the challenges they are presenting with.
It is important to me to provide a safe, welcoming environment to my clients where they can feel seen without being judged. I follow a person-centred approach in my work, and apply integrative practices to collaborate with, and develop, treatment plans with my clients that best suit their individual needs. I enjoy being able to draw from evidence-based therapeutic interventions, that support people in meeting their goals. My aim is always to empower my clients in building upon the skills that complement their existing strengths. In working with my clients to learn adaptive tools they can then add to their skillset– while also gaining additional insight and self awareness– we are able to open up opportunities that can drive lasting success and positive change in meaningful ways for many client's lives.

There are many reasons why a person might seek therapy. Whether it is to learn about ourselves to drive personal growth, or to solve a problem that we feel stuck with. Ultimately, when people start to experience changes in mood, thinking, or their behaviour; when they notice changes to their ability to function or quality of life; and especially when they begin to feel distressed by these changes– whether they are at work, school or at home– it may be time to consider talking to someone about whether therapy is the next step. For many challenges, research continues to show that evidence-based therapies can result in meaningful improvements in mood and wellbeing, even when compared to medication alone.
While I have experience working with individuals who may experience a range of disorders, supporting clients to work through any number of life challenges that are important to them is also something I do. I have spent a lot of time supporting clients who have rural backgrounds themselves, and I continue to offer my services in-person and virtually for clients who are from out of town! My practice is trauma-informed, and is 2SLGBTQI+ friendly. I additionally have experience working with clients with neurodiverse needs. Some of the more common reasons a person may reach out for support are listed below, though this list is by no means exhaustive.
